A Health Department officer said two white patrons of a bar on St. Croix launched a racist assault on him Saturday while he was citing the bartender for not wearing a face mask, according to a probable cause fact sheet filed in V.I. Superior Court.
The patrons — Nathalie Hollins and James Bildahl — were both arrested. Hollins was charged with third-degree assault, throwing bodily fluid or waste at a person, and interfering with an officer discharging his duty. She was charged pursuant to the Hate Motivated Crimes Act, meaning that the underlying offenses were “committed due to hate-motivated intent,” according to the V.I. Code.
