Florence Viola Richardson, 87, of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2019, in New Jersey.

Florence was born in Brooklyn, New York, on November 15, 1931, to Yolanda Garcia DeBellot and Albert DeBellot.

During the 1940’s at the age of 9, she and her family returned to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, her mother’s native home. She attended elementary, secondary school, and college in St. Thomas.

Florence married Melvin Richardson and had two girls, Sondra and Giselle Richardson. She worked until her retirement for the government of the U.S. Virgin Islands as a senior auditor for the Economic Development Division. She was very active in the Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic church where she was a member of the choir and played tambourine. Florence was an avid gardener, loved traveling, but above all loved her home in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

She is survived by her daughters, Sondra Richardson, Giselle Richardson, son-in- law, Calvin Reed, and her grandchildren, Nikki, Milan and Morgan Reed, along with many members of the Richardson family. She is also survived by her friends, Noreen Bryan and Yola Simmonds.

Florence will join her parents, brothers and sister, and husband in heaven.

The service will be held at Ss. Peter and Paul Cathedral on July 8 at 10 a.m.
