It takes a lot for a V.I. government board’s money management to shock the community but the V.I. Government Hospital and Health Facilities Corp. Territorial Board has done it. Six of the nine members chose to use hurricane recovery funds to give raises to Schneider Hospital’s top executives — plus make the raises retroactive to October 2019.
By any measure, the raises are huge — they range from $7,000 to $14,000 — and they are especially outrageous at a time when those same executives frequently plead with the Legislature for more hospital funding.
