The Daily News also thanks the members of Emancipation Garden Christmas Card Inc., which puts on Challenge of Carols, for their unanimous vote to present The Daily News with the Governor’s Award for outstanding contribution to the community for coverage of the challenge and other cultural/traditional activities territorywide. For the past 46 years, the nonprofit, which was founded by Glenn “Kwabena” Davis and Vernon Finch, has put on the event that spreads yuletide nostalgia and joy to Virgin Islanders here and afar on Christmas Day from Emancipation Garden. Thanks also to the Davis, Meyers, Petersen and Weekes families for providing the complimentary traditional breakfast for all. We salute all participants and volunteers!
