Impostor shows up at comedian Lampanelli’s home
Lisa Lampanelli can be forgiven if she didn’t laugh when she found out an impostor showed up at her home.
Police in Fairfield, Connecticut, say they responded to the comedian’s home last week after her sister said she got a phone call from a woman claiming to be Lampanelli.
The woman said she was at her house but was locked out and couldn’t remember where the spare key was.
Police say the real Lisa Lampanelli was out of state at the time.
Officers found 56-year-old Anna Dominguez, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in a car in the driveway.
Police say Dominguez had the same hairstyle as the comedian and was wearing similar clothing.
Dominguez was charged with attempted burglary. A court clerk said Tuesday she had not posted a $500 bond and does not yet have an attorney.
Venice court temporarily blocks da Vinci loan to Louvre
An administrative court in Venice decided Tuesday to temporarily suspend the loan of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Vitruvian Man” to the Louvre in Paris for an exhibition that is set to open later this month.
The move followed a request by the non-profit group Italia Nostra, which has been protesting the loan of the famed drawing by the Renaissance master from Venice’s Accademia Gallery.
A final decision is set for Oct. 16, just days before the exhibition marking the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s death is set to open at the Louvre on Oct. 24.
Culture Minister Dario Franceschini signed a memorandum in September securing the loan in exchange for a work by Raphael for an exhibition marking the 500th anniversary of his death next year in Rome.
“The Vitruvian Man,” Leonardo’s famed study of human proportions, is normally kept out of public view in climate-controlled conditions, but was exhibited at the Accademia Gallery from April through July as part of events marking the anniversary of his death.
Fox Sports hires former Pats tight end Gronkowski
Fox Sports has hired Rob Gronkowski as an NFL analyst. The network announced on Tuesday that the former New England Patriots tight end will make his debut during Thursday night’s pregame show before the Patriots-New York Giants game.
Gronkowski retired at the end of last season after winning his third Super Bowl with the Patriots. He is expected to appear on Fox’s NFL studio show as well as be an analyst for some games.
Fox Sports executive producer Brad Zager said in a statement that Gronkowski’s passion for the game and larger-than-life personality made him a great fit.
Judd Nelson: No misgivings about ‘The Breakfast Club’
Actor Judd Nelson says he doesn’t share the misgivings about “The Breakfast Club” that co-star Molly Ringwald expressed in a first-person column.
In April 2018, Ringwald wrote a column for The New Yorker about watching the movie a few years earlier with her then 10-year-old daughter. Her discomfort focuses on interactions that her character had with a “bad boy” portrayed by Nelson.
In an interview with The StarNews of Wilmington, Nelson says he thinks the 1985 movie is “a product of its time” and that he doesn’t “see those problems that Molly sees.”
The 59-year-old Nelson is in Wilmington to star in the play “Love Letters,” which will be performed Saturday at Kenan Auditorium. His co-star in the two-person drama is Sheryl Lee, who played Laura Palmer in “Twin Peaks.”
Alec Baldwin falls for Statue of Liberty tour ‘scam’
Alec Baldwin says he fell for a “scam” Statue of Liberty tour.
The actor shared his experience on Instagram Sunday. He says he bought $40 tickets for a boat tour of the Statue of Liberty for his family. But they were instead escorted to a shuttle bus to New Jersey.
The Daily News reports the shuttle bus transports passengers from downtown New York to New Jersey, where they get on a boat that offers views of the Statue of Liberty.
Baldwin says his family ultimately ended up taking the Staten island Ferry, which is free and passes the Statue of Liberty.
Mayor Bill de Blasio today announced expanded enforcement Tuesday against companies that mislead tourists and operate buses without permits.
