ST. THOMAS — The University of the Virgin Islands’ men’s basketball team had a relatively easy time winning its first two games of the season.

But the short-handed Buccaneers had to work to get win No. 3 on Friday night, holding off a last-chance rally in the closing seconds to beat Johnson University 80-77 at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center.
