St. Croix high school rivals Educational Complex and Central High School split a pair of varsity basketball games on Tuesday.
The Central girls picked up a 53-19 victory on Educational Complex, led by senior Anisha George, who had 15 points.
Rashanika Williams added 13 points, and Jahnyra Donovan had 11 points for the Lady Caribs.
In the boys’ game, Complex responded with a 60-57 victory.
The Caribs opened a 17-point lead, but Complex coach Dean Heywood said assistant coach Kevin Sheppard gave a pep talk that woke Complex up.
“They came out aggressive and created some turnovers that we capitalized on, and took the lead and went on to win the game,” Heywood said.
Jaime Roebuck Jr. scored 11 points and Jeremy Coker added nine points for the Barracudas.
Rahkeem Swanston had a game-high 19 points for Central, Miguel Lopez scored 15 and Zion Jones had 11 points.
“We stopped doing what we were doing to take that lead,” Complex coach Keith Swanston said. “We turned over the ball a lot, and that came back and hurt us.”
