Debutant “Salsa Jack,” right, ridden by jockey Carlos Quinones, beat “Thulean,” left, and “Courage and Honor,” center, in the main event, the one-mile feature for Class A&B horses, during the Clinton “Bouncer” Romney Memorial on Sunday at Ellis Thomas Downs Race Track on Tortola.

TORTOLA — Debutant “Salsa Jack” upset St. Thomas’ “Thulean” in the one-mile main event, while “One Way To Fame” and “Chovanes” raced to a dead heat in another one miler, highlighting Sunday’s races in the Clinton “Bouncer” Romney Memorial at a rain-soaked Ellis Thomas Downs Race Track.

Thulean, who won last month’s Premier’s Cup, was seeking his third victory in four starts on Tortola, but had to settle in third place as Salsa Jack controlled the pace along with “Courage And Honor” in the one-mile race for Class A&B horses, which had a $9,000 purse.
