The University of the Virgin Islands has entered the next phase of its process for hiring two key positions within its athletics department — winnowing down the dozens of applicants for both its athletics director and head coach of the university’s men’s basketball team.

According to an email from UVI public relations director Tamika Thomas-Williams, the Historically Black College and University received 170 applications between the two positions, with most coming from the U.S. mainland.
