Basket weaving

A basket weaving demonstration will be held at the Annaberg Sugar Mill on St. John today, Wednesday and Thursday, hosted by the Friends of the V.I. National Park, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with weaver Matthew Gibney.


Health screenings

Healthy Encores Caribbean, Inc. will hold Health Awareness Day: Passport to Good Health at Tutu Park Mall on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sponsors, organizations and exhibitors will provide information, products and services, including free health screenings, testing and a diabetes awareness seminar.

Snorkel clinic

The St. Croix Environmental Association will hold a public snorkel clinic Saturday at the beach just south of Cottages by the Sea from 10 a.m. to noon. Instruction and gear will be provided. Registration is not required but appreciated. To register, call 340-773-1989.

Block party

Caravelle Casino in Christiansted will host a Summer Sizzle Block Party Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight. The event will feature Katalyss and the Fyah Train and R&B Connection.


Diabetes walk

Healthy Encores will hold the Luther Milliner Sr. Diabetes Walk and Beach Party Sunday at Magens Bay beach from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to raise awareness of diabetes management and prevention and healthy living among African and Hispanic Americans in the U.S. and U.S. Virgin Islands.

Storm giveaways

Maho Crossroads on St. John will celebrate Christmas in July with a Hurricane Prep Giveaway every day from Sunday through Aug. 28 with a daily drawing and free hurricane preparation gear from Aqua Helios. Drawing items include free solar phone chargers, high-powered rechargeable flashlights, solar backpacks, solar generators and other critical equipment. Residents get a free ticket by visiting Maho Crossroads between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The drawing will be held at 5 p.m. Tickets are good for the drawing that day only. Winners must be present to win. All food and drink is 50 percent off for St. John residents and there will be live entertainment throughout the week.


Conservation Corps

Hosted by the St. Croix Environmental Association, the Coral Conservation Corps program will take place in the Beach Meeting Room at the Buccaneer Hotel Monday through Aug. 2. The program provides an in-depth look at coral reef biology and ecology, and challenges students to become stewards of and advocates for the marine environment. Students age 13 through 16 may apply. Grace Youth V.I.

Grace Youth V.I. will hold a free night of games, Bible stories, crafts, singing, dancing and more at the Grace Baptist Church in Fortuna, St. Thomas, Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Mongoose Monday

Mongoose Monday is held every Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Mongoose Junction on St. John. Enjoy live bands and drink specials at various Mongoose Junction bars and restaurants.


‘Les Miserables’

Pistarckle Theater and the STARZ Summer Camp will present their production of “Les Miserables” Tuesday through Friday at 10 a.m. for campers and chaperones at the theater in Tillet Gardens, St. Thomas. Director Lauren Brody-Clarke, a St. Thomas native, who directed the 2016 summer production of “Disney’s Lion King,” returns this year alongside music director Mary Christiansen, to bring this highly popular musical to life with 30 Virgin Islands children. Food drive

Smoking Rooster in Havensight Mall on St. Thomas celebrates Christmas in July on Thursday at 5 p.m. Holiday food and drink specials will be offered and Circle Band will provide entertainment at 7 p.m. Sign up for the cornhole league starting Aug. 1. Donate non-perishable food items, school supplies, office supplies or personal hygiene products to benefit the Family Resource Center.

Christmas in July

Undercover Books and Gifts in Christiansted will celebrate Christmas in July Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A photo scavenger hunt will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop in at any time to participate. Those completing the scavenger hunt will receive a 10 percent off coupon. Children can participate, but must be accompanied by an adult.
