Jane E. Tuitt Elementary students got an extra treat at their graduation June 20 when members of the Rotary Sunrise Club and representatives from AT&T presented them with books to encourage them to read over the summer holiday.
AT&T representatives Leon James and Keneisha Riley joined Rotary Sunrise members Claudia LaBorde, Jeni Smith, Leonard “Brother B” Bonelli and Paul Haughton at the graduation ceremony.
Jane E. Tuitt Elementary has been Rotary Sunrise’s adopted school for years. Throughout each school year members from the Rotary Sunrise Club visit the school and have participated in a variety of projects with the children.
On graduation day, the Rotary Sunrise group and AT&T representatives attended the graduation ceremony to encourage the children to read over the summer break. As part of this effort, AT&T donated funds to purchase two grade-appropriate books for each child at the school. With the donated funds, the Rotary Club identified and purchased the books and packaged them so that each child would go home with two books.
